About This:
Valoo (born Valérie Douillon on November 16, 1970) is a French singer/songwriter who started singing at the age of fifteen, and who turned professional at age 24. She has spent a number of years touring France with her husband, performing jazz standards as well as her amazing original songs.
Her experiences provided the basis of her album PATCHWORK that is fully composed by Valoo. The album was recorded in La Buissonne, one of the most famous jazz studios in France. As well as recording in this amazing studio Valoo also had the pleasure and opportunity of working with Gérard de Haro, the director of the studio and Joel Gombert, a jazz guitarist who became Valooʼs arranger and close friend.
Valoo has cited Ella Fitzgerald, The Beatles, Charles Trenet, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin as influences on her music.
Her original style arose from a fusion of all these influences along with her love of gospel, folk, jazz and soul which all make an appearance on this album. Her warm vocal timbre and unique vocal technique make this album a pleasure to listen to.
The album consists of eleven tracks so if you are a fan of folk, soul, jazz or gospel then this album is definitely one for your collection.
