Jimmy roots is a five piece, femme alt-rock band hailing from the Lake Tahoe Basin of Northern California. Bringing together an edgy east coast feel and an earthy west coast vibe, their sound relies on the critical balance of ethereal and abrasive dynamics culminating in the live show setting. While keeping the mood light-hearted with humorous chatter and an easy-to-get along with character, some of the bands lyrics tackle the more serious topics of addictions, faith, and fear. jimmy roots has created music with a center.

Consisting of female fronted vocals, drums, keys, bass and guitar the band lends itself to a musical vibe which has stirred a craving for their sound in the Tahoe community and surrounding cities. Originally from Boston and New York, four out of five of the members played out separately and together, in their respective music scenes before making their way out west. Integrating the feel of the east coast music scene, with the vibe of the west has led to a trademark sound and intriguing live show. Their songs have a backbone and spirit with intuitively profound lyrics that set the tone for a well crafted, intricate blend of music ranging from minimal and acoustic to epic and explosive.

Through tight harmonies and pop laden hooks, the girls of jimmy roots swing from soulful to enchanting with seamless continuity. Raw acoustic and potent electric guitars interact with unwavering drums, while bass and keys envelop the room in warm sonic undertones. Figurative and poetic, energetic and alive, jimmy roots spans the genre gamut with their smooth ebb and flow of delicate and aggressive song writing. Although influenced and driven by the odd fringes of underground artists such as Ani DiFranco, Bjork, and Alotia, the band understands and reflects the pop sensibilities of acts such as Dave Matthews Band, Sara Mclachlan, and U2.

The band currently resides wherever their old coachman RV is, with a dirty white Subaru wagon, filled with music gear, in tow.

Teddy is the youngest of the jimmy roots and probably the shortest, except for Missy. He’s an alright kind of guy that really seems to get along well with other people’s parents. He was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe and enjoys twisting his fingers until they oddly represent an S, L, and T.. Kinda like a gang or something.

Kristen is the only one to further herself musically in the Ohio Ebony Heritage Gospel Choir. She brings that midwest soul to everything she sings.
